Are
you using the right codes?
The
U.S. Census Bureau has just released its updated list of U.S. Exports
Commodity Classification Codes (HS-Based Schedule B) for 2001.
These
codes are used by Census and the U.S. Customs Office to classify and
track products that are exported from the United States. If
you're not using accurate Schedule B Commodity Classification codes on
your export documents, Customs can delay your shipments and hit you
with stiff fines.
Don't
take unnecessary risks with your export shipments. The Schedule B
CD-ROM published by the Census Bureau allows you to quickly find the
correct commodity number from more than 8,000 official Schedule B
Codes.
The
Schedule B CD-ROM:
-
Is
easy to use and allows you to search by product name or key-word
description.
-
Eliminates
the need for using the bulky printed schedule.
-
Runs
on Windows 95/98/2000/ME.
-
Is
priced at only $50, an investment that could save you thousands of
dollars.
To
order the Schedule B Codes on CD-ROM, visit the Shipping
Solutions web page.

E-mail
forum provides free help for international trade participants While
large companies can afford a well-staffed international transportation
department and a multitude of in-house lawyers to wade through the maze of
issues involved in international trade, small and midsize companies
usually aren't so well equipped.
That's why InterMart has created a free on-line forum to provide
real-time answers to import-export questions. Members of the
Import-Export Mailing List can post international trade-related
questions and receive replies from other international trade
professionals located around the world.
Hundreds of international trade professionals from
more than 30 countries are already participating in the list.
Participants include business owners and managers involved in
international trade, members of traffic departments responsible for arranging and documenting imports and exports, international trade
consultants, and trade staff from a variety of government
import-export agencies.
Mailing list participants discuss a variety of international trade
issues including proper documentation for shipments, calculating
import and export costs, using proper international trade terms, using
letters of credit and other payment tools, and understanding trade
practices in other countries.
The Import-Export Mailing List is a moderated list and does not
allow participants to clutter the forum with specific buy/sell
postings since numerous other web sites already provide this service.
To join the Import-Export Mailing List, visit http://export2@listbot.com,
enter your email address, and click on submit. Participants receive
all mailing list postings by email. To post a question or comment,
participants simply send a message to export2@listbot.com.
