For years, U.S. companies that shipped goods valued at more than $2,500 to anywhere
other than Canada had to complete and submit a Shipper's Export Declaration
(SED) along with their export shipments. That is changing. |
|
The U.S. government has announced that it will eliminate
the paper SED and will require exporters to electronically
file this data through the Automated Export System
(AES). In fact, if your company's products require
an export license, you should have begun filing your
SED information electronically through AES on October
18, 2003.
As part of this transition from the paper SED to
AES, Census has announced it will be increasing the
penalties for delays in filing through AES, failing
to file at all, or filing inaccurate information 10-fold
up to $10,000 per violation.
Our Shipping Solutions export documentation software
makes it easy to correctly file
the information that once appeared on the paper SED
through AES. Just enter your export information on
our EZ Start Screen, click a button, and Shipping
Solutions will upload the data to the Automated Export
System.
At the same time, you'll have entered in the information
you need to quickly and easily create and print more
than a dozen other standard export documents such as
invoices, a packing list, bills of lading, and much,
much more.
