AES White Paper Cover
U.S. exporters must electronically file their export information through the Automated Export System (AES) on the ACE portal when goods are valued at more than $2,500 or they require an export license. You may be required to do the actual filing yourself, or you must provide certain data elements to a third party who is doing the filing.
The data you submit to AES is used by the U.S. Census Bureau to collect information on U.S. exports and by U.S. Customs and Border Protection to ensure compliance with export regulations. Exporters who don’t understand AES requirements risk shipment delays, potential fines and other penalties.

In this whitepaper, you'll learn:

  • What is AES
  • When is an AES filing required
  • Who needs to do the AES filing
  • How to file through AES
  • How to set up an ACE account
  • How to file through AES on the ACE platform

This popular white paper has been updated to reflect U.S. Customs and Border Protection's recent changes as part of their ACE Portal Modernization project. In particular, the whitepaper walks you through the new ACE login screen and how to connect your old filings with your new ACE account. So whether you’re filing for the first time or the fiftieth, there's new information you'll find helpful!
